Rudd Schoeffel

Rudd Schoeffel, a California native, graduated from Oxford University in 1967 with a triple major in philosophy, politics and economics. He met his future wife, Sally, at Oxford, and upon his graduation, they married and she moved with him to California. They settled in La Jolla, where they bought their first home, a 1931 Spanish casa designed by Cliff May. Rudd went to work in downtown San Diego, where he co-founded the Financial Counseling Division of a major bank, overseeing the bank’s real estate portfolio.

After many successful years of buying, restoring and selling older properties throughout San Diego county, Rudd and Sally founded Rancho Buena Vista Real Estate in 1973. The name of our company is taken from the 1845 Landgrant Adobe, located in the city of Vista, where Rudd and Sally lived and raised their four children. The city of Vista purchased the adobe rancho in 1989, and now operate it as a museum for the public's enjoyment.

In addition to the Landgrant Adobe, they also renovated many other architecturally significant homes, including ones designed by Cliff May, Lillian Rice and Richard Requa. They built the RBV Professional Center in Vista, and later converted many of the office buildings to highly successful office condominiums. Most recently, they restored the North Park spanish courtyard complex which houses our real estate office.

As a licensed real estate agent for over 25 years, Rudd has the experience and background to analyze deals of any size and complexity, and successfully bring them to closure. He is now focused primarily on commercial transactions and overseeing RBV’s Property Management division.
